About the fabric
These pajamas are made from a cotton/modal blend that is super-soft and is becoming a popular choice for sleep and loungewear. A bio-based fiber, modal is made by spinning reconstituted cellulose from beech trees. This material is about 50% more water-absorbent per unit volume than cotton. Just like cotton, modal is designed to dye and is color-fast when washed in warm water. Modal is essentially a variety of rayon. Textiles using modal do not fibrillate or pill, as cotton does. Modal fabrics also resist shrinking and fading. They are smooth and soft, even more so than mercerized cotton. In fact, modal fabrics are so soft that mineral deposits from hard water, such as lime, do not stick to the fabric surface. It is recommended that, like pure cotton, modal be ironed after washing.

Munki Munki original prints and pajamas are designed solely by Heather Ross. The Munki Munki brand was born when Heather took a pair of vintage bed sheets to a fabric manufacturer in Los Angeles, hoping to develop a cotton poplin that was as soft and as long-wearing. The ideas for prints were drawn from her own life, a childhood spent in rural Vermont in the '70s, a penchant for celebrating very common things, and adding humorous details that would keep the wearer smiling.
